Updated AMS Information Sheet - Surgical Menopause

AMS Surgical Menopause

This factsheet stresses how important it is that any patient experiencing a premature or early menopause, whether naturally, due to medications or due to surgery, sees a specialist in early menopause management. Patients experiencing earlier menopause are at higher risk of chronic health issues going forward, so there is much more to consider for these patients than menopause symptom management alone. This factsheet discusses these points.

AMS Congress 2025 - Fremantle WA

AMS Congress 2025

AMS’s annual 27th conference will be held in Fremantle 12-14th September next year. Registrations will open early in the New Year.

The Annual Congress is a perfect opportunity to network and to become acquainted with the latest information on managing the menopause.

With women’s midlife health being at the forefront of media attention, the challenge is to deliver the most effective tools for physiological changes and to manage symptoms that may offer an opportunity to mitigate long-term health outcomes.

The IMS World Congress in Melbourne in October in 2024 was a huge success. The AMS Congress will offer further opportunity to ask questions and discuss patient care, spreading the diversity and implementation of that care.

Board member and Endocrinologist, Ashley Makepeace from Fremantle, is chairing the Scientific Committee. It promises to be an outstanding Scientific Congress with new themes and objectives.

Fremantle is a vibrant city with outstanding natural surrounding resources for your enjoyment pre or post Congress.

I look forward to seeing you there. I encourage you to send ’Suggestions for Fremantle Congress’ to ams@menopause.org.au.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Sylvia Rosevear

Oral Health and Menopause: Exploring the Views and Practices of General Practitioners and Practice Nurses

About the study

Women are at higher risk of developing oral health problems during menopause. These oral health problems can significantly affect their quality of life. Studies have shown that healthcare providers can play a key role in addressing the oral health needs of women in perimenopause or menopause. However, very little is known about the current perceptions and practices of healthcare providers like General practitioners/Practice nurses for the management of oral health for women in perimenopause/menopause.

We invite you to participate in our study (interview) which aims to explore your experience regarding oral healthcare and identify challenges in this area. The information you provide will help us identify future strategies and services that could improve oral healthcare for women in perimenopause or menopause. Participation will involve a 20–30-minute interview. The interview will be conducted at a time convenient for you using either phone, online platforms like zoom, or face-to-face. Participation is voluntary and the information you provide will be strictly confidential. You will be reimbursed for your time participating in an interview.
