Cardiovascular Disease and Menopause

Dr Erin Michos, is associate professor of medicine within the Division of Cardiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, with joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She also is the director of women's cardiovascular health and associate director of preventive cardiology in the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr Erin Michos discusses how the menopause transition influences cardiometabolic risk factors and the relationship between vasomotor symptoms and heart disease. She reviews that early onset of menopause in women before age 45 years is considered a risk factor.
